The commitment of Bayer to young people has been recognized at the beginning of this year from a survey of “Potentialpark” (Swedish group for research), carried out on a sample of 1.888 Italian students and graduates.
The subject of the survey is the use of the smartphone to find a job: 44% of young Italian states already use this mode for activities related to career , against the EU average of 36% . However only 13% of Italian companies has a site " mobile friendly " that allows the sending of the curriculum in this mode .
Bayer gained a really good position: ranked 7th on 81 companies, so among the 30 companies that best meet the expectations and needs of young people .
Following the Universum survey, which involved 30,900 students, Bayer had confirmed for the third consecutive year his first place as "Italy's Most Attractive Employer" for the sector HealthCare / Medicine.
In the ranking, Bayer precedes Novartis (second), Roche (third), Sanofi (fourth).
Bayer was awarded first place in the Good Company Ranking 2013. Among the 70 largest European companies Bayer is the best with respect to social responsibility.
“We are highly delighted by this commendation," says a member of Bayer AG’s Board of Management responsible for Technology, Innovation and Sustainability. " Our aim is to balance business success with the needs of our employees, society and environmental protection."
The “Good Company Ranking” was published for the fourth time following its previous issues in 2005, 2007 and 2009. Four years ago Bayer came seventh.
Our Contribution to Society
Sustainability and social responsibility have always been key topics in our efforts to adapt to a changing world. To contribute to society’s future viability, we make investments in the areas of science and education, health, social needs, and community projects. This commitment is an integral element of Bayer’s corporate policy. Some of our ongoing activities include:
- The Bayer Early Excellence in Science Award, presented annually to talented young scientists in the early stages of their academic careers;
- A collaboration with the Chinese government aimed at promoting advanced training for physicians in rural, medically underserved areas of western China;
- A fund to encourage recreational, disabled, and competitive sports activities in Germany.
Disaster aid is another area of activity for our social needs foundation. As an example, in the wake of the 2012 earthquake in Sichuan province, China, Bayer responded to the emergency with an extensive aid program. The Bayer Cares Foundation launched several projects to rebuild the community, including an initiative to restore a devastated college campus in the city of Dujiangyan.
The origin of the Bayer foundations goes back to Friedrich Bayer, who laid the cornerstone for the company's first foundation activities already in 1897.
Today there are two Bayer foundations: the Bayer Science & Education Foundation, which supports science and education by improving school programs, promoting young scientists, and honoring outstanding research; and the Bayer Cares Foundation, which seeks to improve living conditions through social initiatives, including healthcare and disaster relief.
The foundations support innovators in science, education, and social welfare, thus improving lives today and into the future.
